The Dragon's Ledger

Basic Information

  • Type: Dungeon/Ruins
  • Location: The Cogs, Sharn, Breland

Description

Hidden deep within the molten heart of The Cogs, The Dragon’s Ledger is whispered of as the most impregnable vault in Sharn. Constructed by a coalition of Dragonmarked Houses under the silent guidance of draconic prophecy, its existence is known only to a select few—those whose influence spans both commerce and destiny.

Access & Location

The vault is suspended above roaring lava pits, anchored to the bedrock by adamantine pylons and veiled in layers of arcane wards. Conventional travel magic teleportation, dimension door, even planar shifts—is nullified by these wards. The only way inside is via the Mystical Bridge, a shimmering span of force that manifests only when the vault’s guardians lower the wards.

To cross the bridge, each person needs a pendant that they wear during their time in the vault. These pendants are returned on their way out. This allows them to traverse teh bridge the spans the lava pit to the vault itself.

Security & Secrecy

Each deposit box within The Dragon’s Ledger is a masterpiece of magical engineering. They are individually warded, keyed to their owner’s essence, and sealed against intrusion by any means short of divine intervention. Even the most skilled magewright cannot breach a box without its proper key.

Keys of Artifice

Access is granted through artificer-forged keys, each imbued with a unique enchantment that cannot be replicated. Physical duplication is meaningless—the charm woven into the key’s matrix is bound to the box it opens. Attempts to counterfeit these keys have ended in catastrophic backlash, leaving would-be thieves as little more than ash drifting over the lava below.

Rumors & Legends

Some claim the vault holds more than wealth: fragments of prophecy, dragonshards of impossible purity, and relics tied to the Draconic Chamber. Others whisper that the vault itself is alive, its wards pulsing in rhythm with the Prophecy, and that those who linger too long hear voices speaking in tongues older than Eberron.
